4 Tracks At Once With Garage Band
Author: kilroydegeek :: Posted: Mon Dec 27, 2004 3:20 am
Not possible? Well not strictly, but by using a mixer, your Mac's line in, a DV camera, some adapter cables, Sound Studio software and Garage Band, you can record four channels of monaural sound simultaneously.

Download my PDF e-pamphlet that shows you how

It's a bit of a kludge, and it involves a bit of file fiddling and visual synchronisation, but it may just get you out of a hole and save you having to write that cheque for ProTools before your next bedroom jam session Smile

Enjoy!

Help with Sountrack Loop utility
Author: davajonah :: Posted: Thu Dec 23, 2004 4:57 pm
Hi GB Gurus - hope I've posted in the correct place.

I've made a two track 'loop' in GB using software tracks [drum loops and my own keyboard generated bass] Now I am trying to turn them both into one aiff loop, so I mix down, etc etc. Then I open up the saved aiff in Soundtrack loop utility to give it tags. Problem is - when I re-import it to GB, the tempo has changed - it's faster than the one I mixed down. I've done similar things before - but this has never happened. What am I doing wrong? Embarassed Help really grateful - this is driving me 'loopy'!!

Could a mod plz delete this line, and make post a sticky, big hug for the mod who gets here first Wink

I have started this thread for experienced Apple Scripters to help us unfortunate few get into scripting.

This is the place to post scripts or a link to a particular script, and of course for nubes like me to request help. Cool

I'll start by requesting some tips on folder synchronisation...

I want to have a clone of my itunes music folder that will sync with the original. Both are/will be on separate HDs, neither being the startup drive.

I don't want this to be a backup file, it has to remain expanded and immediately usable. My thoughts had me investigating folder actions and attaching a script to the itunes folder, but I have been looking for ages and have come up blank.

problem> want to remove drumkick from sample > works P
Author: peter :: Posted: Sun Dec 19, 2004 2:04 pm
hello,

any audio pros here who know how to remove a basskick from a aif sample? the sample itself should remain untouched except of the bass kick.

i tried it with Peak 4 and its DSP or other Peak Plug ins, but there are so many, i found only one: Bias Frequency, it can remove certain frequencies, but then other "information" gets also lost.

i heard that professionals do this with a pro-Equalizer, is that right?

thanks for any advice

peter

Help! GB faders controls acting funny
Author: john63 :: Posted: Thu Dec 16, 2004 5:01 am
I am in the process of recording a 15 minute story on Garage Band. I am reasonably happy with the result so far given my lack of experience and equipment. I have reached the point of adding a music track. I want this track to fade in and out. Fading in at the beginning is fine but further down the track when I click on the volume curve, the control points appear but when I try to move them they seem to disappear. I find them later, way back near the start of the recording and somehow the volume curve has curved up, in places where I don't want it to, all on its own. I have to go back and fix it all the way along. Every time I try, I get the same result. Restarting does not fix the problem. Any suggestions folks?

New addition to the apulsoft page of free AU plugins is the Chip synth plug that will give you some old school synth sounds you might not have had before. Looks like I might not regret selling my Roland SH-101 after all! Also newish is the Ticky Clav plug.

Just in case you don't have apulsoft bookmarked... it is a great resource! Smile
