Song Information:
This is a fast paced folk-rock song. It is about something everyone can relate to, that is, dealing with confusion and aimlessness, seeking for an answer in one's life. It features an electric guitar lead and a chorus/refrain that says it all. This is a new recording of a previously submitted song. Copyright 2004 Jack Miller. All Rights Reserved.
Feb. 16, 2009 Update:
This is one of two songs I first submitted at MacIdol in June of 2004. The other was "Dreamers Like Me." This one has always been one of my favorites. I uploaded a remix in 2006. What I have done with this new version is take that last 2006 mix (which included new vocals and electric guitar riffs) and run it through ChannelStrip to create what is a clearer and more unified mix. I also cut the drum loop intro.
The song is about searching and longing for something more in life, a transcendent and lasting home. It's set to rather upbeat, fast-paced music.
Song Lyrics:
Chorus:
Sometimes I feel like Im falling
Sometimes I feel so all alone.
Sometimes I think Im going nowhere.
Sometimes I want to go home,
But I just dont know the way.
1.
Another day, they say, another dollar.
Whats it get you? Only bread.
Its a living! But thats a question.
So youre full, youre still feeling dead.
Whos your friend? Your wife, your son, your daughter?
Who walks with you the extra mile?
What would I give to find an answer?
Separate the truth from the lies.
[Chorus]
2.
The grass, they say, is always greener,
Once youve reached the other side.
So you run, but never get there.
Another dream of yours has died.
The other day as I was working,
Customers in my face.
I cried, Hey whats the problem?
I think its me and not this place.
[Chorus]
3.
Its the question through the ages.
Whats the purpose of it all?
On and on the battle rages,
In my head and in my heart.
Do we live this life for no damn reason?
Something says theres something more.
Wheres the way, hey whens the season,
That leads me to that ancient door?
[Chorus]
Dont you want to go home?
