Song Information:

One of my first tunes with Logic, about two years old, reworked. Another guitarless musical filibuster ... which I do so enjoy. Dedicated to my son, Alex, who is an Xbox Halo nut. The main bass line is taken from the soundtrack to Halo, electronic music written by the inestimable Martin O'Donnell. Alex particularly liked that part of the soundtrack, so, to amuse him, I wrote the bass line into Logic back when I was first learning. He challenged me to make it into a new song, which I did. This is the 4th version.

It's mildly plagiaristic, in that the thematic bass line is the same as in Halo. But it's very simple, not especially unique, pretty generic actually, so I feel no guilt. In any case the rest of the piece is original.

It's barely what I would call progressive. But I'm not sure what it is, as usual. Starts off quiet, ends quiet ... all kinds of noise in between. Features multiple parts, a droning echo guitar loop, four chords, a heavy reliance on the minor 7th, some almost uncontrollable vox synth parts, absurdly fast synth parts, semi-funky part, fake electric guitar, ambient interludes, drumming, Phrygian messing around, a near-chaotic transition to a brief 6/8 section, whooshing sounds galore, shaker, and tambourine. I love tambourine.
