Ant farm looks so fun

By day 2 they’ve long tunnels
But I feel like changing the channel
They dig dig dig ‘til I’m really bored
Besides I’ve got to do my chores

Busy busy busy serving the queen
Everything they do is for the good
Of the ant farm colony

They’ve got long antennae
They meet quickly then say bye bye
What other things do they say?
Do they talk about my giant face?

One ant is carrying
Another around in its pincher things
Mommy says they’re mandibles
And says the other ant is disabled

Some move slow and some move fast
One appears to dance in place
It puts a smile on my face

That one looks strange
Mom says show compassion
Another looks lame
Dad calls it depression
He says they work too hard
They must be exhausted
Mom says it is fate
God bless the dear departed

On day 4 the farm looks bleak
In the corner I’m afraid to peek
There’s a pile of stuff behind the barn
I think I’ve had enough of this ant farm

I tap on the glass
Pretend to have antennae
And sing them a song
To wake them from their slumber
Exoskeletons
In an ugly pile
Work is not fun
Nature is vile

Boo hoo I cried
Aware, however vaguely,
I just caught a glimpse
Of my future
Stupid ant farm
