Song Information:

I've been hearing something on my RPM track "Lived In The Town", like African singing in the background. It's kind of hard to grasp the sound of it, but it's been flitting though my head for a week.

Today i bumped into a friend, Tembre, who sings and plays and runs voice workshops, and asked if she could help me get some backing vocals together. So ...

We met this afternoon and got some great sounding tracks recorded using Lyrics from a song Tembre is using in a group she sings in. A traditional African song about a tribe that decides to leave it's country and move so as to avoid fighting with their neighbours. This fits beautifully with the lyric of the track we're working on.

Tembre made up a new melody and harmonies on the spot to go with my music and lyric, while her daughter ate pasta - all of us at the kitchen table. Very mellow!

I always wanted to do something that nodded to The Stone Mountain Crew. And this track hints at that Foggy-folk-reggae-Mountain music.

Song Lyrics:

I lived in the country and I lived in the town
I travelled the world and now I've settled down
I lived in the City and til I thought that I would drown
So now I'm back, back in the country again

We live on this mountain only you and me
some said we'd be lonely some said we'd go crazy,

some think the country's just a museum
some said they'd come visit but we never see 'em
Take your time, test your dreams
I don't mind I'm back in the country again

We live on this mountain only you and me
some said we'd be lonely some said we'd go crazy,

Ngeke Ngiye Kwa zulu Kwafel'Ubaba
Kgeke Ngiye Kwa Zulu Kwafel'Ubaba
Intomb'Igeza Ngovuma Kukhal'Insizwa

Take Your time it's not what it seems
the river of life and the hill of dreams
i don't know what all of that means
but I'm back in the country again

We live on this mountain only you and me
some said we'd be lonely some said we'd go crazy,
