Song Information:
Growing up in the '50s and '60s, I was greatly influenced by the popular "Tom Swift Jr." science adventure book series. As a 4th grader, I read my first, "Tom Swift and his Rocket Ship". For me, it was instant fascination (or maybe obsession) with science fiction and futurism. I read all 33 books in the TS Jr. series, on up into my early 20s, when finally in 1971 the last book, "Tom Swift and the Galaxy Ghosts", was published. Teenager Tom Jr. created amazing futuristic inventions, like giant robots, the jetmarine, atomic earth blaster, diving seacopter, ultrasonic cycloplane, electronic retroscope, repelatron skyway, space solartron, 3-D telejector, sonic boom trap, and G-force inverter, to mention just a few. "Calling Tom Swift" pays homage to these books that filled me with awe, wonder, and inspiration.
This original MIDI piece includes eight Sophistry softsynth tracks, along with the Boys Chamber Ensemble from the Voices Jam Pack, a couple of Wizoo cello tracks, a Fairlight Piztwang track, Dance Hook, Foxy Bass, Fuzz Clav, and two Hip Hot Remix drum kit tracks.
