Eq wrote a beautiful poem that i could never forget. I never thought i would make it into a song but one day the first line of his poem somehow came to some music i was working on. Once that happened, it became a sort of challenge to me, to make the words and the music fit together, but not like forcing pieces of a puzzle together, i was challenged to make it sound nice.

I am not sure if i achieved that but it was a good experience. I am thankful to Eq for being open to my interpretation, even though i have a feeling he wasn't thrilled about it. But he did say he enjoys different interpretations, so that's good.

I still sort of feel like i contaminated the poem. The poem stands on its own and its beauty is so desolate that no music in the world can capture it or do it justice.

Song Lyrics:

Untitled (The dragons)

The dragons I have killed cannot come back.
I am no George,
Metallic myth to reappear each year
Fresh from the forge.
My heart is dried and infamous and black.
The dragons I have killed cannot come back.

I broke the dolls' house, snapped their plastic necks.
The children fled
Whose books (and all they ever learned) I burned.
Your dreams are dead,
So bloat your empty hours with empty sex.
The dragons I have killed cannot come back.

I proved the unicorns did not exist.
I made them die.
And when the last of them had choked I joked
To see you cry.
That was the last time I was ever kissed.
My heart is dried and infamous and black.

Stone dragons guard the seething gates of Dis.
I'm sorry now,
And all the lonely souls in Hell can't tell
Or measure how:
For cold and grey and stone are all that is.

My heart is dried and infamous and black.
The dragons I have killed cannot come back.
