Song Information:
Seventh tune in the occasional "Phantom Film" album, in which I imagine a theme to a non-existent movie. This tune, "Flashman and the Dragon", pays tribute to the fictional autobiographies of the loveable 19th century rogue, scoundrel, cad, and bounder, Sir Harry Flashman, who was, perhaps, the role model for Han Solo in the first "Star Wars" film.
The eighth book in George Madonald Frasier's 12 book series, "Flashman and the Dragon" follows Flashy's misadventures in China during the Taiping Rebellion in 1860; in this tune, a sort of interpretive jazz dance thing, Sir Harry engages in, ah, um, let's just call it royal commerce with Imperial Concubine Yi (who later becomes Empress Tzu-hsi).
Sadly, only one Flashman movie, "Royal Flash" (1975) starring Malcolm McDowell and directed by Richard Lester, was made. It's a shame this series of hysterical, I mean, historical novels hasn't become a James Bond-style film franchise.
