Song Information:
After hearing so many versions of this with modern instrumentation, I decided to take a simpler approach. You have the boy and his drum -- nothing else. I tried to use a drum similar to what might be found in the Middle East, and a recast the melody into an Arabic maqam (kind of like a scale) that made it sound exotic but still recognizable.
There's another version with a violin replacing the vocals for the melody, if you can't handle my singing!
