For this song, I return to my classical roots, in a song consisting solely of vocals.
The creation of Tristezza, in a way, was an unplanned journey. An abandoned instrumental composition left behind a few lines of verse, in Italian, that I put to a melody ad-lib, after an unfruitful recording session. It sat for weeks and then another spur-of-the-moment recording session realized the harmonies, again improvised.
