This piece started out as an instrumental, and the vocals came into their own in improvised layers after I composed a few lines of "tragic verse" (ok, I'll admit I've heard a few operas too many?).
While in the instrumental "Winter's Breath" was meant to portray the mood of the piece, in this second version with vocals, "Winter's Breath" is more of an abstract, ethereal figure associated with loss or betrayal.
