Louis Larouche is not only an accomplished performer, but also an excellent composer. Polyvalent, he is not afraid to approach many different musical styles. Known for their flair with special requests, the musicians of Musidirect have been delighting international audiences since 1988. With their remarkable repertoire of over 3000 works in five languages, these three accomplished virtuosi bring a unique sound to every project they touch.

Michelle Fountaine, soprano and violinist, Louis Larouche, trumpeter, and Gilbert Blais, guitarist form a trio renowned for its energy and the originality of its interpretations.

They have represented the Quebec Ministry of International Affairs on trade missions as far away as Peru and Chile, have performed in Washington, D.C. for the Smithsonian Institute, and have been heard in New York at such venues as the Rockefeller Center, the Waldorf-Astoria and the Metropolitan Club. Closer to home, they have shared their music with countless visitors to Quebec City, Montreal and Toronto.

In 2003, they produced a CD entitled Musidirect à la carte, which contains many of their most-frequently demanded interpretations.

Graduates of such renowned institutions as the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, the State University of New York, and Boston University, winners of grants offered by the Conseil des arts du Canada and the Shoshana Fondation of New York, the musicians of Musidirect also share their art with the students of the Conservatoire de musique du Québec, l’Université Laval, and the Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy.

The trumpeter Louis Larouche holds a First Prize from the Quebec Conservatory of Music. A Canadian Arts Council Grant permitted him to further his art with studies at Boston University. He has performed in various recital series, radio programs, and television broadcasts throughout Eastern Canada and the United States. He is often accompanied by the organist Sylvain Doyon, with whom he has released a much-heralded CD of Canadian compositions for trumpet and organ.
