We are a collective of working professional session musicians based in Los Angeles. You have heard us for years on hip hop, pop, jazz, and rock songs by well-known artists and on TV and movie soundtracks. In the past two years we have begun performing live with Gene as our front man. Some of the places we have performed are La Ve Le and Don Randi’s Baked Potato, both in Studio City, the Catalina Bar and Grill in Hollywood, and the Jazz Bakery in Culver City. Although we are versatile musicians, our own style as a group leans toward a fusion of new age, club jazz, and soft-rock like our friends David Lindley, Waddy Wachtel and other members of the Mellow Mafia play. We have very little original material yet, since we play on songs others have written, and when we perform live we cover our favorite jazz, new age, and pop songs. At the beginning of May, we were invited to help the engineering staff work out the bugs at the new Cigol Studios in Hollywood, which will not officially open until late summer. Although we had a few equipment problems during our sessions, Cigol is shaping up to be an incredible all-digital facility. Its central control room has racks of Macintosh servers fed from a space-age SmartAV control surface in each studio control room. The live rooms themselves are some of the most spectacular and comfortable we have ever worked in. It was a pleasure to record for ourselves for the first time, instead of recording on other artists’ songs, and it was an honor to be invited to be the first to record at Cigol, even before it officially opens. Our producer/engineer seems to know a lot about the online Macintosh music community and told us Macidol.com is the best to test out our material for honest feedback. So here we are.
