"THE REEFER SONG"

ABOUT THIS SONG... This is a funny one! I was hired by a Booking Agency to perform at a gig at a bar I was not familiar with, but I said "Sure, I'll take the gig". As it turns out, it was at the most Red Neck Bar I have ever been at in my life! I mean right down to the chicken wire. When I was following the directions to the bar, the more the directions lead me towards the Alligator Alley Swamp Land, the more concerned I got. In short, the first weekend I don't think I ever played FREEBIRD so many times in one night, but I survived. However, I did not sell any CD's not a one. Go figure? Then, I knew I needed something for this crowd and wrote and recorded THE REEFER SONG. The second weekend, I played my new song several times in different sets throughout the night. I ended up selling dozens of CD's and NO I DID NOT accept a 3rd and 4th week contract from that agency nor did I ever take any gigs from them since. I'd be happy to hear your comments on this song in the Message Board area of this site. It was a life-saver for me!
