Shawn Cullen is currently teaching in the Tucson Unified School District for the OMA (Opening Minds through the Arts) Project as a Music and Arts Integration Specialist where his is known for his high-energy teaching and stunning children's performances. Cullen serves as Music Director and Band Director for TUSD's largest 5th grade instrumental program where his school was chosen as the "arts spotlight" program for Governor Janet Napolitano's educational tour of Tucson for the 2005/2006 school year. His knowledge in arts integration in education has taken him to serving as the Lead Grant Panelist for the Arizona Commission on the Arts grants in arts integration for the Phoenix Metro area for 2006/2007. Cullen performs professionally with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra Chorus and has traveled throughout the United States, Mexico, and South America as vocalist and instrumentalist. When not teaching or performing Mr. Cullen serves as an artistic consultant to various musical groups as clinician, composer, and conductor. Cullen has made his professional film-composing debut this year with a short entitled "THR33", directed by George Couston. After serving as Music Director for Summer Fine Arts he will then head to the Burton Music Festival in Seattle, WA as a member of the trumpet faculty for Summer 2006. Mr. Cullen made his professional acting debut in Tucson last year with the Wilde Playhouse and looks forward to more theatrical endeavors in the fall. Cullen is a graduate of the University of Arizona, a recorded artist on multiple local albums including Park Avenue Records and was recently nominated for "Who's Who in America 2006".
