Singer/songwriter Tom Atwood blends acoustic folk and modern classical music to create songs that are sometimes spiritual, sometimes political and always personal. He also writes orchestral compositions that blur the borders between Classical and New Age, music that reflects the sweeping American landscape.

The songs here are stories of life in modern America: imploding baseball stadiums, dying amphibians, asphalt, weed killer, business. Sharp commentary wrapped in plain paper and smooth harmonies. “If I close my eyes, I can hear a touch of Pete Seeger,” says fellow songwriter Tim McFate. “Easy to listen to and always hoping to be heard. Just really good songwriting.”

A documentary producer, Tom Atwood plays guitar, piano and saxophone and began writing songs more than 30 years ago. His first record, a 45 RPM, was produced with the acoustic band “Arm and Hammer” in 1975. During the past year Atwood has collaborated with artists from around the world, including some featured on MacIDOL. Many of those pieces are included on “Songs from the American Plain,” Atwood’s latest CD on The Lost Records™ label.
