Toots' Rambles
Back in 1996, I recorded this CD to support my burgeoning career as a folk singer-songwriter in the Boston music scene. I went up to Brian Doser's studio in scenic Lynn, MA and we put this down on 1" analog tape. There's no drums, very little bass, mostly just acoustic guitar, with some banjo, some mandolin played by my friend Sean Staples, some harmonica played by Ry Cavanaugh and some fiddle and cello played by the lovely and talented Kris Delmhorst. And nice harmonies provided by Ry and Kris and Nathan Thompson, Esther Friedman, Matt Griffin and Faith Soloway. I wrote a bunch of songs, and did a couple covers; the traditional "Wind and Rain", and Jimmy Driftwood's "Long Chain". It's pretty varied for sticking to the acoustic format. It was very nicely mastered by Jonathan Wyner at MWorks and released on the fledgling Boston label Holy Mackerel! Records; the whole thing is very professionally done. The song "Ice" in my music page is from this CD.
I have a few copies of it left, as a whole pile of them that went to a distributor that went out of business and they're probably languishing in a warehouse in New Jersey or something. But if you want a real pleasant folk album with my typical contemplative, yet positive message, I would be more than happy to send one out to you. There's only a few left, so get 'em while you can!
