| I'd uploaded a version of this one up here previously, a while back, shortly after I wrote it, and I was thinking of songs that perhaps I could play live while going through my lyrics book and came upon this, I was reminded that I always meant to revisit it. The original version got some great comments but that only glossed over some problems, so I re-recorded almost all of this, just using the same drum track (though I did have to do some editing of that as well). I like the drum track as it uses a really neat Drums on Demand odd time loop set that is organized in alternating 7 measure and 4 measure loops. I changed a word in the bridge that needed to be changed. Also recorded 2 new acoustic guitar tracks, organ and glockenspiel instead of steel guitar, bass guitar instead of a software acoustic bass, new lead vocal plus a harmony, and I got rid of tambourine loops I used first time around. The original is here: http://www.macjams.com/song/2599 The story of the guy in the song isn't necessarily my story, it's just an idea that I had, about how you have these moments of realization out of all the turmoil that life throws at you. I am not sure, but I seem to recall the expression, "She looks like trouble in 7 directions"; it might just be my imagination, but sometimes you can tell when you see someone going into a relationship how things are going to go, but relationships are funny things, you can't live with them and you can't live without them. Like a fair number of my songs, this is meant to be humorous- despite my somewhat doleful delivery, I hope it's taken that way. The song art is a watercolor painting I did a number of years back called "the moon in his hand" | |
