Just who is Jenkins Mackenzie? Where has he been, and where is he going? Nobody can say, but with his songs he leaves post cards of where he now is, post cards sent from the forgotten universe, translated, reconfigured, rejected, and ultimately recapitulated. His is a journey behind enemy lines, where the enemy is the unseen water one is wading in through the dark, damp night. Over the course of eighteen months, four albums, a rarities collection, a best-of, and an EP, Jenkins has evolved from amusing self-parody to industrial self-mutilation to megalomaniacal self-immolation to calm self-acceptance and back again. This summer he plans to nurse himself back to life, or die trying.
