Early musical influences as a kid were my parents' love of SWING, BIG-BAND, MOVIE-MUSICALS, THE BEATLES, THE SEEKERS and other golden oldies like SINATRA. I lapped up every chance to see pub bands and live acts in my native Australia and many years in the travel industry, travelling and partying the globe exposed me to everything from A to Z. I've been a writer of one kind or another all my life, dabbling in short stories, alternative history and poetry. The writing morphed to composing and lyrics, and became integral to the other creative areas of my life. I'm a gardener, a maker, a thinker, a poet... things must grow from a seed, into plants, or into song. My brand of electronica I call "THINKtronic".. I create sounds and melody by combining an idea or experience with a myriad of electronica based influences to texturize the story I am sharing thru music. I use a variety of Mac & PC software and hardware, but am primarily a Mac-freak. I create my own sounds using real instruments, a midi, vocals, or any object in particular that catches my fancy. Am heavy on percussion, and love banging things together to get new noises to play with. I also like to edit standard loops to my own need, and throw it all in a pot. Creating melody and tempo with percussives and layers of filtering is a trademark of my current work. Although unashamedly electronic, my Australian origins have given me to be deeply influenced by the sounds of nature, albeit, assimilated and digitized. My first instrumental adaptation of poems and thoughts WALK THE EARTH is out now ON THIRTEEN[REC] as DDL . I'd have to say I do produce my music with a mind to it being heard on an iPod or the like.. the intimacy afforded by these little wonders fits well with "THINKtronic". Im hard at work on ALBUM NBR 2, featuring spoken, sung and chanted poems set to my brand of electronica - the destinations being not so much places, but rather to various states of being instead .."Rap-Poetronics".. if u like? I am especially enjoying the lyric writing process and am eager to collaborate lyrically with anyone if the connection wills it so. I get regular airplay on Shinebox Radio (shinebox.net.ni VIA Live365fm, KSVYfm's Virtual Garage show and sites a plenty.) I also have Podcasts on iTunes from Thirteen[rec] and iCompositions.com ... There's a lot I could tell you here, but if u really want the full scoop on what I'm about, feel free to visit WWW.HUNKSTEN.COM ... cheers, HP
