| There once was a Sunday comic called "Bloom County," and a spinoff of it called "Outland." In one of them, world-famous penguin Opus and his buddy Steve Dallas decided to "drop out" by stripping off their clothes and laying naked in the daisies. It was great, the strips showed them laying in a field of yellow and green on top of a hill. Eventually, they tired of the boredom and went back to society. But the idea was still in my head when there was a news magazine show on whether we were scaring ourselves to death with all of the things we worry about today. The idea was that the stress caused by worrying about cancer or being in an airplane crash was more likely to hurt you than the thing you were afraid of. That's where this song came from. Also, that looping melody you hear in the beginning of the song and after the first chorus is actually a GarageBand loop of a fiddle. |
